Top air quality in the skin & laser center

The "Berchtesgadener Land Skin & Laser Center" plays a pioneering role in terms of excellent air hygiene.

Especially in winter, waiting rooms often reach their capacity limits, with patients sitting close together waiting for their treatments. This increases the risk of infection. Pathogens such as viruses and bacteria use aerosols and fine dust to spread. As a result, they often remain airborne and infectious for hours. In the medical sector, which has always been sensitized to hygiene, air hygiene concepts are now becoming increasingly important. Used correctly, they actively prevent possible infection by pathogens.

Dr Helmut Hahn, dermatologist and partner at the Haut- & Laserzentrum Berchtesgadener Land, has recognized this and acted accordingly: “Optimal air hygiene is the key to working safely in the practice. Corona has shown us that a viral infection in the company can lead to a chain reaction. To protect our patients and our team, we therefore immediately invested in room air filters for our skin and laser center to ensure continuous operation for our patients.”

Room air filters ensure optimum air hygiene in practice

Dr. Hahn is talking about the Kappa Puron® SC room air filter, a high-performance air purifier with HEPA class H14 filter elements. This certification guarantees that 99.995% of all airborne pollutants such as viruses, bacteria and pollen are removed. Out of 100,000 particles, just five make it through the filter elements of the Kappa Puron® SC. Thanks to these first-class filter properties and high air performance, the room air can be permanently cleaned. The intelligent design ensures a 360-degree effect. During operation, a high indoor air quality is quickly achieved.

He is also impressed by the appliance's low noise level. It is less than 42 decibels, which is roughly equivalent to the volume of a refrigerator. Thanks to its compact form, the Kappa Puron® SC can be used flexibly: in the waiting and registration area as well as in the treatment room. It therefore not only guarantees clean air, but also trouble-free processes.

Removal of harmful substances during laser treatment

Laser treatment releases laser smoke and odors, as well as gaseous emissions and fine dust. These particles are so fine that they can be inhaled and penetrate into the finest branches of the lungs. For this reason, Dr. Hahn uses mobile filter units with suction arms for laser treatments in order to capture the pollutants produced directly. The emissions are almost completely filtered in high-performance filter systems. At the Berchtesgadener Land Skin and Laser Center, laser filter systems are therefore another key component that ensures optimum air hygiene.

Air hygiene in the practice is essential for the future

Dr. Hahn has used the start of the pandemic as an impetus to adapt his existing air hygiene concept to the current requirements: “Air hygiene is an essential part of a modern medical practice. Our air hygiene concept is based on two pillars: the recording of emissions during laser treatment and the permanent cleaning of indoor air using room air filters.

This holistic approach has enabled us to work consistently throughout all phases of the pandemic and to continue to focus on the essentials in the future. And that is people.”
