Saving energy:  energy-efficient components 3/6

Lever 2: KappaQ-Energy Components

The second lever, “Components”, deals with the energy efficiency of individual components.

If the ventilation solution is planned and dimensioned correctly and in an energy-optimized manner, energy consumption can be massively reduced further by using energy-efficient components. Each individual component of a ventilation system influences the ongoing energy requirement; a system is only as energy-efficient as its weakest link. Our experience shows that the energy efficiency of individual components is often only considered superficially. For example, the choice of an energy-efficient fan motor can save electricity in the low single-digit percentage range, whereas an incorrect fan airflow causes an additional energy requirement of up to 65%.

Our recommendation

  • Use your company's experience and draw on our expertise to determine the energy efficiency of all components.
  • In addition to their basic function, we always assess individual components according to their energy consumption.

Case study
energy-efficient
components

A customer asked us to replace an ageing bag filter system for secondary dedusting during metal smelting. At the same time, the air performance and separation efficiency were to be increased.

Together with the customer, we developed a system concept based on the newly developed Kappa Ekon® filter technology. This made it possible to reduce the space required for the filter system and at the same time increase the air and separation performance. Above all, however, it was possible to reduce energy consumption.

THE RESULT

  • Thanks to the development of the Kappa Ekon® fine dust and energy-saving filter, electricity consumption has been reduced by 658,622 kilowatt hours per year compared to a state-of-the-art solution.
  • This corresponds to an annual CO2 saving of 482,100 kilograms and the annual CO2 capture of 38,550 adult beech trees.

ENERGY EFFICIENCY CONCEPT

»KAPPAQ-ENERGY«

KappaQ-Energy is the energy-saving concept for minimizing the energy costs of ventilation systems.

It illustrates which factors influence the energy requirements of ventilation and air-conditioning systems and which levers make it possible to reduce energy consumption permanently and sustainably.
