Save energy with ventilation systems

Kappa Wavebionix® virus filters
ensure high air quality and
optimum energy efficiency initiative

We are currently faced with sharply rising energy costs in Europe. At the same time, however, the flu epidemic is spreading every year. Many modern offices are now air-conditioned. Particularly in summer, many employees are therefore happy to be able to work in the office again, away from socialising. However, this also means that ventilation systems are running at full speed and energy consumption increases dramatically. In addition, it has become clear in recent years that good air quality plays a key role in a healthy office.

So how can managers manage the balancing act of providing employees with a safe workplace while counteracting rising energy requirements? One possible solution is the new Wavebionix® filter element.

Nowadays, filter elements in ventilation units have to do a lot: on the one hand, they have to ensure a high air flow rate and therefore a high air exchange rate in the building. On the other hand, they have to clean the air highly efficiently and remove air pollutants such as aerosols and pathogens.

Kappa Wavebionix® ensures the highest air quality and saves energy at the same time. The Wavebionix® is the first filter insert for ventilation units that has even been tested with ultra-fine, active viruses. The accredited Austrian test laboratory OFI confirms its efficiency with a ‘Viral Filtration Efficiency’ of 97.2%. The outstanding filtration efficiency is also the key to preventing the possible spread of pollutants in the building via the ventilation system. However, it also influences the energy required to operate the ventilation system. High separation efficiency equals higher power consumption! This premise no longer applies when using Wavebionix® filter elements. Thanks to the intelligent design, the active filter surface area has been multiplied. As a result, the air quality is ten times better than when using conventional filters - with the same air flow rate and resistance. Due to the high degree of separation, purified exhaust air can be safely added to the fresh air - for example in heating or cooling applications, which in turn leads to an enormous reduction of up to 60% in heating costs.

Kappa Wavebionix® utilises a natural principle
The special features of the Wavebionix® are its low pressure loss and high storage volume. Its active filter membranes are innovatively interwoven with the The surface area is increased many times over. This slows down the flow of air, extends its retention time and greatly increases the ability to bind air pollutants such as viruses and aerosols to the membrane. This principle of radical surface enlargement is widespread in nature and therefore gives our air filter element its name.

Kappa Wavebionix® fits into all standard ventilation units
During development, we made sure that the filter element fits into almost any ventilation unit. This means that existing ventilation systems can be upgraded to an energy-efficient protection system without any conversion work.

CUSTOMER VOICE

The Wavebionix® filter element achieves the trick of massively improving the air quality in the ventilation of buildings while significantly reducing energy costs.

Or as Günter Brinkrolf from the CLAAS Group puts it: ‘As the operator of one of the most modern production facilities for agricultural machinery in the world, “occupational health”, “resource conservation” and “energy efficiency” are not just buzzwords for us, but a living reality that is directly linked to our product. With the use of Wavebionix® in our offices, these maxims are also reflected in our reduced energy costs. We are now not only working together more safely, but also more cost-effectively.’

KAPPA WAVEBIONIX®
IS A BUILDING BLOCK
OF OUR INITIATIVE

»Safe in the office«

Good air quality depends on numerous factors. To reduce the associated complexity, we have developed the ‘Safe in the office’ initiative.

This initiative minimises the risk of infection, prevents absences from work, reduces follow-up costs and even lowers energy consumption.

Because the key to a healthy and efficient office lies in the air.
