Dimensioning of collection devices & filter systems

PRECISE PLANNING BASIS FOR PLANNING, DESIGNING AND DIMENSIONING COLLECTION DEVICES AND FILTER SYSTEMS

Determining the quantity and dispersion of industrial emissions is often very complex. In very few cases are measurable sources available. The collection technology and extraction systems are often planned on the basis of empirical values.

In many cases, this leads to incorrect system design. The emissions are insufficiently recorded and there are considerable residual emissions (fugitive emissions).

The Kappa Video-Fluid-Dynamic (VFD) software analyses and evaluates emission sources. An analysis based on video recordings determines the speed of visible emissions (particle smoke velocities). The camera is positioned in such a way that a quantitative assessment of emission areas that are inaccessible or difficult to access is possible. By analysing the velocities, shapes and extent of the emissions, conclusions can be drawn about emission volume flows or contaminated volume flows. The dispersion of the emissions is clearly documented quantitatively.

The evaluation of emission sources over a longer period of time or across complete process or production steps enables a continuous analysis of these emission processes. The determination of average emission velocities with simultaneous observation of minima and maxima makes it possible to optimise the design of extraction and capture systems.

This eliminates the risk of undersizing or oversizing.

Benefit

  • quantitative assessment (analysis and evaluation) of industrial emissions
  • integration of static functions
  • possibility of calibrating and validating the particle velocities
  • documentation of the emissions assessment
  • precise planning basis for the planning, design and dimensioning of collection devices and filter systems
